A lot of the games announced at the Microsoft press conference didn’t really surprise me, as most of them were expected. The only real shock was the fact that Metal Gear Solid is coming to the Xbox 360. The only thing that tempered that announcement is that the game will be based on Raiden, who isn’t exactly the most loved character in the franchise.

The true show stopper was Project Natal. The fact that people will be able to control their Xbox 360 and play games without any sort of controller is a big game changer. Although it really depends on how the technology is used. If it’s a home to a lot of crap and very few great experiences, like the Wii, then the technology will be wasted. Only time will tell how revolutionary Natal will be.

Overall, Microsoft put up a strong showing. Now Nintendo and Sony need to bring some heat.
